Our story

A Note from Janet

Janet Media Group is a family of websites, each one devoted to a single category of things people buy for their homes, their families, their time outdoors and themselves. Towels and bath linens. Action cameras. Strollers and car seats. Wine fridges. Sunscreen. One subject per site, and one site per subject.

That is the whole idea. A site that tries to cover everything tends to cover each thing lightly. A site that covers one thing can stay with it: learn its vocabulary, read the manuals, follow the safety standards and recalls where they apply, and explain the trade-offs that decide whether a purchase works out for you.

Every site in the portfolio is independently owned and published by Janet Media Group. None of them is owned by the brands it writes about. They earn money the way most product-guide sites do, through affiliate commissions when a reader buys through a link, and they say so on the page where those links appear. The commission never picks the product. The recommendation comes first; the link comes second. You can read exactly how that works in our affiliate disclosure.

The other promise is the one I care about most. When one of our sites has not tested something, it will tell you, and it will show you what the pick is based on: the manufacturer's specifications, a published safety standard, or someone else's testing, named and linked. Our editorial standards spell that out, and how we choose walks through the method every site shares.

How Our Sites Earn Your Trust

You should not have to take a product-guide site on faith. These are the rules every Janet Media Group site follows, written down so you can hold us to them. The details live in our sourcing rules and our corrections policy, too.

A recommendation says who a product is for and who should skip it. If a pick has a weakness, the page names it.

When a site has used a product, it says so specifically. When it has not, it says that plainly and shows what the pick is based on instead.
